Findings and recommendations
Showing 7 of 7 points.
01 Results
Both CO₂ emissions and water consumption had decreased significantly from the baseline measurement.
02 Materials
The use of recycled materials, especially recycled polyester and to a lesser extent recycled cotton, had a major impact on the environmental impact.
03 Insight
The software also provided insight into the percentage of recycled materials; this had increased significantly from the baseline measurement.
04 Tenders
Sustainability and circularity should be included in the evaluation of tenders for workwear.
05 Tenders
A streamlined LCA, such as bAwear's tool, can help objectively assess and reward companies for environmental innovations and measures.
06 Insight
The tool made the environmental impact measurable and understandable from raw material extraction to waste phase.
07 Process
Tenderers should be given sufficient time to collect the necessary data, often depending on their own suppliers and the entire chain. It is important to follow the recommendations of the Committee of Procurement Experts (CoAe).
Environmental Impact Report
bAwear Score environmental impact report, impact per supply chain step

The use of recycled materials, especially recycled polyester and to a lesser extent recycled cotton, had a major impact on the environmental impact. During the agreement, the percentage of recycled textiles would continue to increase due to improved recycling techniques. This would make the tenderers' performance on sustainability more measurable.

"As a tenderer you want to avoid, that during the tender, discussions arise about the method of assessing sustainability. An industry-wide accepted instrument is therefore desirable, with an established calculation and assessment method. This does not yet exist in the textile industry."
